Tennessee tightening Regulations on Credit Counseling
In an attempt to regulate certain credit counseling outfits, the Tennessee legislature has passed certain bills to assist monitor these organizations in general. All in all, the legislation in question is known as the Uniform Debt Management Services Act, which insures that these firms have insurance, plus other conditions. One of these specific conditions is that, for corporations which are based outside of the state, they will have to register with that state. This is due to many of them being situated just outside of the state and doing advertising in a wide array of venues.
All in all, Senator Doug Overbey (who just happens to be a republican, if that matters), has sponsored the Senate bill and truly thinks tha it is the best method for protecting the consumers there. This act was drafted using the Uniform Law Commission, which is basically an outfit which is more than a century old and is highly respected as well, much like the better Business bureau or something like that I suppose. As an aside, it should be noted that there are many honest outfits that can help with Credit Counseling, Debt consolidation and relief as well as other forms of Debt Help. Alright now back to the mian article:
This commission stated that many consumers with credit card debt can do what these companies do themselves. The commission went on to say that these companies usually charge a large upfront lump sum.
