Some Corporations getting Rid of their Office Art

I some recent cases, large business entities have been compelled to sell or otherwise move their often substantial office art collections for a variety of reasons ranging from mergers to financial collapse When Unilever moved from their headquarters into a smaller building, they wanted a new, fresh theme. They held a public event and sold off the beautiful 92 photographs from the old building and raised $400,000. That money was then donated to the Marwen Foundation, which provides free art classes to Chicago's disadvantaged youngsters in grades six through 12. All in all, the particular office art in the new buiding featured their products; blown up pictures, big and colorful.
It appears that Altria has essentially changed its name from Philip Morris Cos. in 2003. It sold off half of its 700-piece art collection and it moved to Richmond, Va. The new offices feature many of Virginia artists. When Altria moved they donated 200 works to the Whitney Museum of American Art. I have notoced a lot of sizeable office art work collections as of late, especially office paintings and cool art gallery sections. In addition to the awesome paintings, I have also noticed a trend of more and more office building art selections which I do think is a good idea in general.
