Someone I know who has literally spent months looking for a job which fits her lifestyle has finally hit upon something awesome. She has a mobile pet grooming business. One of Amy’s favorite customers is an elderly lady named Iris. Iris struggles to live on her own and remain independent. She loves that she can call Amy to come to her home to groom her pretty little grey schnauzer, Betsy. Every time Iris has to go somewhere she has to call her son, and she hates to do that, Amy says.
“I go out to Iris’s mobile home park about once a month to groom Betsy,” Amy says, smiling at the thought, “and every time I go out there, Iris tells me how much the mobile service means to her. She takes such good care of Betsy, and Betsy is such a sweetheart, just like Iris.”
Amy grooms up to about 30 animals per week. She has a couple of cats that she grooms. She charges only about ten dollars more than she would in a shop, and that covers the cost of the van and gas.
Lately she’s gotten very busy and it’s become more difficult to fit everyone in.
She says, “If I can find someone who’s as picky and particular about giving good service as I am, I might hire them and buy another van. Business is good. I’m so grateful.”
