Some of the Best Used Cars around

In this economy, you should definately choose your used cars wisely. This is especially true here on oahu, with high gas prices and roads that often degrade cars faster then normal. That is why I recommend an informative story recently penned by superb author Sam Foley under their Vehicle category entitles; The 10 Best Used Cars to Own.Just google it and it will pop up for you. All in all, this said story has some fascinating and even shocking data to know when your are thinking about which used cars make the most common sense. As an example, Honda's Accord scores relatively high on the J.D. Power and Associates long-term-dependability research. These particular used cars are very popular here on Oahu I have noticed. The author notes that this year it was beaten by both the Buick LaCrosse and the Mercury Milan! Now that is a real shocker to me and indicates that American used cars may be making a comeback. I do not see this trend reflected in Oahu used cars as of yet however.
The venerable Accord maintains a high resale value year after year. Plus, Foley reports, “A 2007 Accord's cost-of-ownership estimate comes in about $100 less than that of a Corolla, despite the sticker price being over $1,000 more.”
I’ve never cared for large vehicles of any sort unless I’m flying, so I really know nothing about any of them. Apparently the Mercury Montego takes the honors for the large car category.
J.D. Power's long-term-dependability study for 2010 places the crown on the hood of the Mercury Montego! This, Foley says, was the Ford sub-brand's version of the Five Hundred, which was Ford's temporary replacement for the Taurus. A fully loaded 2006 AWD Premier with continuously variable transmission, for example, can be had for less than $13,000, says the writer.
For the smaller SUV category, the pick is the Honda CR-V. Again, no shocker there. It’s the topper apparently in J.D. Power's 3-year dependability ratings and its resale ratings. Foley describes it as affordable yet spacious for a small SUV, with a gleaming reputation for quality. This one is $21,545 new but can be had for between $11,200 and $16,100, says Foley.
Check out the article for more detail and the rest of the list—it’s worth your time.
